Types of practising certificates
A practising certificate type can be either restricted, or unrestricted and relates to your employer (i.e. private, in-house, government, volunteer).
The holder of an unrestricted practising certificate is entitled to practice as a principal of a law practice as defined in section 9 of the Legal Profession Act 2006 (ACT)
The holder of a restricted practising certificate is not entitled to practice as a principal of a law practice.
A practising certificate type relates to your employer (i.e. private, in-house, government, volunteer) and the applicable fees for each practising certificate can be found here.
Workplace types and associated practising certificate
Change of employment may affect the type of practising certificate you are required to hold, this will impact the forms that you should submit.
