New victims of crime scheme welcomed by ACT Legal Profession
ACT Law Society President Sarah Avery has commended the ACT Government on the new Victims of Crime Scheme.
Ms Avery stated, "Our members report that the new victims of crime scheme is a great improvement. Victims of crime are having their claims assessed quickly under the new scheme and are now more likely to be spared the requirement to give testimony in order to prove an entitlement to compensation.
"Our members report that the scheme is simpler for clients, and increases access to justice for vulnerable members of our community."
