Law Society welcomes new Chief Magistrate
The Law Society congratulates the Attorney-General on the highly welcome appointment of Magistrate Lorraine Walker to the position of Chief Magistrate of the ACT.
Ms Walker is well regarded by the ACT legal profession as an effective magistrate and before that as a respected barrister practising in ACT courts.
We appreciate having a “home grown” Chief Magistrate, familiar with the nuances of ACT law and the administration of justice in the Territory.
The new Chief Magistrate will be a great role model and inspiration for the increasing number of women in Canberra’s legal profession.
