Our reach

The Law Society provides the only dependable avenue to directly contact Canberra’s lawyers and their clients. Our extensive database of members is continuously updated, reaching more than 3000 solicitors, barristers, and others in the legal community.

Guests at Law Society functions cover the full breadth of our members, from private firms and government departments, barristers, legal academics, law students, and associated companies such as insurance providers and accountants.

We reach our members through our quarterly magazine, Ethos, and through regular email updates, including the fortnightly e-newsletter Hearsay, fortnightly events update, and monthly emails targeted to specific member groups (such as early career lawyers or managing partners, and interest groups such as international law and government law).

Sponsorship

Sponsoring a Law Society event raises your profile with influential members of the profession in informal surroundings, while they are in a receptive mood. It also enables you to develop or maintain business contacts in the profession. It puts your company logo, name, and website in front of our full membership by way of weekly emails that go out to more than 3000 lawyers, barristers, legal academics and members of the judiciary.

The Law Society organises between 30 and 40 events every year. These include sporting events, social lunches, formal dinners, cocktail events, and lectures.

Advertising

The Society has two regular publications, a fortnightly newsletter called Hearsay and a quarterly magazine called Ethos. These publications put advertisers in touch with all solicitors practising in the ACT, as well as barristers, interstate and overseas members, local politicians, members of the judiciary, senior public servants, relevant government bodies, interstate law societies, accountants, and libraries (including university libraries throughout Australia). Both have a circulation in excess of 3000, and we consistently achieve a 44 per cent open rate.
