How do I log in to the website?

If you are first-time user of the website, or if you have forgotten your login details, you will need to allow the system to reset your password.

On the Society’s home page, there is a Members Area login section found near the centre, right-hand side of your screen. Just underneath the Login button you will see the words “Need Help?”

Click on “Need Help”. You will need to enter your preferred first name into the "first name" box, followed by your last name and the email address you have provided the Law Society as your primary email.

Click “Submit” and you will then receive an email in your inbox with a “change password” link. Click on this link, and you will be taken to the website, which will ask you to enter a new password and verify that password. Your user name and new password will now be active.

You can now log into the website with these new credentials. Your user name is your first name and surname separated by a full stop (eg Firstname.Surname).

How do I renew my Practising Certificate?

Once you are logged in, you will be taken to the Member Centre, which will show your name near the left-hand side of the screen, and a list of headings under “My member profile”.

“My Membership” is the link needed for renewals, or signing up for new types of membership. All your details are pre-populated so you just need to verify all the details and then tick the declaration boxes required and submit. You will go through a payment gateway, if you do not wish to pay by credit card, select the Cheque or Direct Deposit option. Once you have worked through this section, your renewal will be submitted online to the Society and an invoice will be emailed to your email address.

How do I register for a Law Society event or CPD seminar online?

You should log in before you register for an event. This will ensure the system records you as eligible for members’ rates, and that CPD points will be allocated to your CPD Tracker. It will also mean the system does not try and duplicate your name on the Society’s database.

You will see upcoming events on the front page as well as being able to view the calendar.

You also have the option to go to the “professional development” link on the left-hand side of screen in the Member Centre, or the “events” link in the main navigation on the top of the web page.

How can I register for an event on behalf of another member?

On the event page, simply select the "Register another person" option. You will be asked to enter the name and email address of the person you are registering for, then click "Submit".

If the person you are registering for is a current member of the Society, the system will recognise these details and display a message in red text saying "Existing user found".

This message lets you know that the system has recognised the person as an ‘existing user’ - the contact fields will pre-populate; you will be charged the members fee; and CPD points will be assigned to the member's CPD Tracker.

If you do not see the "Existing user" message, the system has not recognised the person you are registering as a current member. There may be an error in our database, or you may have used a different email address to the one the member has provided as their preferred email. Please contact the Society and we will help you complete the registration process.

How can I tell if I am logged in?

If you are logged in, the top left of your screen will have a button which says “member logout” and underneath it will say Welcome “your name”.

If you are not logged in, the top left of your screen will have a button which says “member login” and you can either use this to login, or use the Members Area login section found towards the centre, right-hand side of your screen.

What will I find in the sections of my member profile?

The sections of the Member Profile are:

Update my details – this section allows you to amend your email address, phone contacts, add areas of interest and languages spoken. If you change your employer, you will find a link here to a change of details notification form to advise the Law Society of the change.

Change password – where you can change your login password.

My Membership – where you can renew your membership or practising certificate.

My Orders – where you can view any orders you have placed online through the Society website. This can include Practising Certificates, as well as CPD seminars and social events.

Event Registrations – a summary of events you have previously attended as well as upcoming events you are registered for.

CPD Tracker – allows you to check how many CPD points you have accumulated as well as allowing you to add any external events which you wish to use for CPD points. CPD points will be added automatically when you attend a Law Society CPD event – please allow 48 hours after an event for points to appear on your tracker.

What is my user name?

Your user name is "firstname.surname" (remember the full stop between first name and surname).
