ACT Law Week

National Law Week is an annual event held from 14-20 May across Australia. Law Week aims to promote public understanding of the law and its role in society. The theme of National Law Week is “Law and Justice in Your Community”.
In Canberra, Law Week is organised by the ACT Law Society, and is sponsored by LawCover Insurance Pty Ltd. Each year, the events held during Law Week seek to raise funds for a local Canberra charity. In 2012, the ACT Law Society is proud to support Pegasus Riding for the Disabled.
The wider Canberra community is invited to attend Law Week events which include the Law Week Launch on 14 May, the Women and Justice Forum, a Mock Trial organised by the ACT Director of Public Prosecutions, Will Awareness talks, and tours of the ACT Supreme Court.
Highlights will be the annual Sir Richard Blackburn Lecture, to be delivered this year by The Hon Michael Black AC QC, former Chief Justice of the Federal Court of the Australia, and the Law Week Dinner, organised by the Women Lawyers Association of the ACT, featuring guest speaker The Hon Justice Virginia Bell AC of the High Court of Australia.
